Virago is one story featured in this book and can be found in my upcoming novel, Soy Boricua. It's the tale of a woman who sits in prison for her part in the Grito de Lares uprising of 1868 and considers its impact on the family she's in danger of losing.
La Tormenta (The Storm)
As the unprecedented category 5 storm, Hurricane Isaac, barrels across towards the Sunshine State, storm clouds of another kind roil beneath the roof of the Tenorio home. In preparation for the storm, philandering husband Vincente Tenorio surprises the family by bringing home his mistress and their children to ride out the storm. Mariangela knew about the affair, accepting it like a good wife as penance for getting knocked up and not finishing high school. Although having the
social-climbing homewrecker under her roof for 72 hours might just end her.
Vicente isn't the other one in the family with secrets though and all is revealed as the killer storm bears down on them. When Isaac finally passes, will the devastation be worst inside the house or outside?
